Why I Do What I Do?
I believe our current education system and cultural norms have led us down a path of complacency. We are too ready to believe that others know the best way for us to proceed. We’ve shut down our creative capacity to bring about joy from the bottom of our toes. We seem to be dependent on other people's opinions, thoughts, and direction for our lives.
The objective in having a life coach is to brainstorm to uncover the logistics needed to get you where you want to go based on what you want to achieve. You are the highest authority on your life. What are the actual facts that must be addressed to be able to achieve your dream? What steps are involved?
When I first started to take back authority of my life, I could hardly believe the simplicity of life itself. One thing I heard along the way was that my reason for being here was to LOVE MY LIFE. Something inside me knew that statement was true, but my mind was caught up in the thinking that I should accept what life gave me and just "be happy" about it.
Actually, that is entirely contrary to the nature of our existence. We should be leaping out of bed every day shouting, “I love my life.” Moments throughout the day should cause joy to rise up from our toes and further cause a spontaneous outcry of “I love my life!”
This is the natural way of being and it is possible to return to this state quickly and easily. It’s more than okay to say, “I love my life.” This is the highest pursuit of humankind in my mind. A pursuit that is worthy of growth and exploration into our imagination, self-will, and seeking out a new awareness of our thoughts and actions.
Being a student of life, the more I know, the more I want to know. In fact, I am in awe when I think about the gift that coaching gave me when I was defining the life I love. I had the incredible opportunity to be coached through a difficult time in life and my coach listened to me in a way that allowed me to return to myself.
That, in turn, brought me to what I call, “Resurrecting Joy.”
My coach's ability to see past my circumstances and reinforce the power I have within me, gave me the courage and the strength to break through my limited thinking.
That changed my life.
To return to myself was the greatest gift I’ve ever received.
